Careers and training pathways
Two Sunshine Coast locations
Specialist Sports Medicine welcomes enquiries from FACSEP-qualified Sport and Exercise Medicine Physicians, accredited ACSEP registrars, and prospective registrars in Australia and New Zealand, whether full-time, part-time, sessional, or on a short-term visiting basis.
Specialist Sports Medicine is a FACSEP-led specialist sport and exercise medicine practice, growing across two Sunshine Coast locations in Noosa and Maroochydore. We welcome enquiries from fellow SEM physicians, and from ACSEP registrars and prospective registrars, looking for a high-quality clinical environment, whether you are seeking a permanent base, a flexible sessional arrangement, a training post, or a working holiday consulting post.

SEM physician roles
We are interested in hearing from FACSEP-qualified (ACSEP) Sport and Exercise Medicine Physicians currently practising in Australia or New Zealand who want to consult at Specialist Sports Medicine. The clinic is built around specialist clinical autonomy, evidence-based practice, and close collaboration with allied health. There is no expectation of a particular subspecialty focus: general musculoskeletal SEM practice is the core of the work.
Our two Sunshine Coast locations see a broad patient mix: acute and overuse injuries, concussion, injection therapies, osteoarthritis, exercise as medicine, and WorkCover. The Sunshine Coast population is active, the referral base is growing, and the clinical environments are purpose-built at Noosa Civic MediHub and Maroochy Private Hospital.

Engagement arrangements
We are open to a range of working arrangements depending on what suits you and what works for the clinic. All arrangements are discussed directly and structured to reflect your situation.
- Full-time: A permanent consulting position with the clinic as your primary base.
- Part-time: A defined number of consulting days per week, suitable for physicians balancing other clinical commitments.
- Sessional: Flexible session-based consulting, useful for those with portfolio careers, interstate commitments, or who are building a Sunshine Coast patient base.
- Working holiday: FACSEP physicians who want to consult at Noosa for a defined period while based here are welcome to enquire. Noosa is a genuinely desirable place to spend time, and short-term arrangements can work well for the right person.
Remuneration, billing arrangements, and practice support are discussed at the expression-of-interest stage. Confidentiality is maintained throughout.
Registrar and training
Sport and Exercise Medicine training in Australia is delivered through ACSEP. Registrar placements at Specialist Sports Medicine may be available as accredited training posts. The aim is a structured experience covering the full breadth of specialist SEM practice, from acute injury through to exercise prescription for chronic disease and performance medicine.
Junior doctors interested in a SEM career, or seeking observerships and clinical exposure ahead of formal training, are also welcome to make contact.
Partner practitioners
The clinic works closely with physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, sports dietitians, podiatrists, and other allied health practitioners across the Sunshine Coast. Allied health professionals interested in building shared clinical pathways with the clinic are welcome to make contact via the contact page.
