Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to find what they need on this website, including people who use assistive technology. This page explains what we do, where we know there is room to improve, and how to tell us if something is hard to use.

Our commitment

Specialist Sports Medicine is committed to making this website usable for as many people as possible, regardless of ability or the technology they use. We aim to meet the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which is the standard recognised under Australian accessibility guidance.

What we have done

Accessibility has been considered as the site was built, not added afterwards. Measures include:

  • Clear structure. Pages use meaningful headings, landmarks, and lists so the content can be navigated by screen readers and keyboard.
  • Keyboard access. Menus, the mobile drawer, accordions, and buttons can be operated without a mouse, and a "Skip to content" link is provided at the top of every page.
  • Readable colour. Text and interactive elements are chosen to meet AA colour-contrast targets against their backgrounds.
  • Responsive layout. The site adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops, and supports browser zoom and increased text size without loss of content.
  • Descriptive text. Informative images have alternative text, links are labelled by their purpose, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Respecting preferences. Animations are reduced for visitors whose device is set to "reduce motion", and visible focus outlines help keyboard users track where they are.

Known limitations

We are upfront about the areas we are still improving:

  • Embedded maps. The Google Maps embed used on location and contact pages is provided by a third party and its accessibility is outside our control. Our address and contact details are always available as plain text nearby.
  • Documents. Any downloadable forms or PDFs may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need the information in another format, please contact us and we will provide it.
  • Ongoing content. As new pages and blog articles are added, occasional issues may appear before our next review.

If something is hard to use

If you have trouble accessing any part of this website, or you need information from it in a different format (for example, large print, plain text, or read aloud over the phone), please tell us. We will help and we will use your feedback to improve the site.

Please include the page address and a short description of the problem so we can look into it. We aim to respond within five business days.

Need urgent care?

This page is about the website. If you have a medical emergency, call 000. For urgent but non-emergency health concerns, contact your general practitioner or call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84).
